Select Square Ballast Sandstone
For building sandstone retaining walls.
Select square ballast comes in large blocks of or small blocks called 'handyman rock'. It is split sandstone that is fairly square or rectangular in shape. It can be used to great effect in low or very high retaining walls.

Large Sandstone Blocks: Select Square Ballast
Select square ballast are large blocks of split sandstone that are roughly square or rectangular in shape. It is commonly used for load bearing walls, high walls or when a decorative but solid element is needed such as post support or pier. The largest peices can be manovered by a single person, but are best handled by two people.

Small Sandstone Blocks: Handyman Rock
We also produce 'Handyman Sandstone Blocks' it can be easily handled by one person and is more consistant in size, it comes approximately 4/5 sqm to the pallet, each block is approximately 350/400mm long, by 150mm thick, by 150mm wide. These blocks are so easy for a first-timer to lay.

Sandstone Capping For capping walls and steps.
Sawn Sandstone capping is used to dress the top of finished retaining walls and steps. Sandstone capping can have square edges or bull-nose edging for a more decorative effect.

Flag Stone - Sandstone Paving For paving outdoor areas.
We sell high quality flagstone, roughly square or rectangular in shape and approximately 60mm thick. Flag stone is commonly used for paving open areas or footpaths. It can also be used for small, non-load baring walls.

Large sandstone boulders are often used as unique garden features or to surround water features. They can be left as'ripped sandstone' with rough natural edges, or worked on-site to dull and smoothed over to give a more rounded finish.

Large sandstone slabs and blocks are often used for large or unique retaining walls, the construction of seawalls and by sculptors. An experienced stone mason may also prefer to order large slabs so they may cut their own flag stone or random ballast.
